Hilltown

Attention Teachers

Teachers on the middle and high school level are expressing interest in Hilltown as a resource book in American history. The story deals with the westward expansion, the development of the Morgan horse as a popular American breed, early female sufferage, slavery, abolition, the influx of Irish people as they flee the famine in Ireland, the underground railroad and the foreboding of the Civil War. There is sexual content necessary for the advancement of the story. Much of the story is dialogue, with few long prose passages. Many readers say they finished the book in one to two sittings.
